A beautiful three piece French clock made by the sculptor E.H. Mouree with alabaster and ormolu. Movement by Brevet. Won a bronze medal at the Paris exhibition. The central piece featuring a woman holding the conical pendulum. A conical pendulum is one in which the bob has a continuous circular motion and thus requires no escapement as with a conventional pendulum which swings from side to side. The figure holds a train, representing the industrial revolution. Two urn side pieces. The clock strikes the hours on a bell. Circa 1850.
